CREDIT PROGRAMS AND COURSES

The Center's diverse mix of credit programs provides students with the degrees and course options they need to compete in today’s marketplace. We are continually developing new credit programs and courses to meet the changing needs of our global economy.

Degree Programs

The Center offers two degree programs, the Bachelor of General Studies and the Master of Professional Studies, designed to make it possible to balance your family and career responsibilities with your education. The Master of Professional Studies is an online degree; the Bachelor of General Studies offers courses in both classroom-based and online formats.

  • Bachelor of General Studies (BGS)
The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) program allows adults with an associate’s degree or 60 or more credits to enter UConn as a junior and finish their degree at a pace that allows them to balance career, family and education. CCS’s partnership with the Connecticut Community Colleges system guarantees state community college graduates (with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher) admission into the program. The degree is available at all six campuses and many courses are also online. For course information, see the schedule of classes for online courses.

  • Master of Professional Studies (MPS)
The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) program allows working adults to earn an online degree that is flexible enough to meet evolving multidisciplinary workforce needs. The MPS offers four fields of study - Homeland Security Leadership, Human Resource Management, or Humanitarian Services Administration. These were chosen according to workforce and market demand.

Individual courses in several of these fields of study are currently being offered online and can later be applied towards the MPS degree. For course information, see the schedule of classes for online courses.
Course Options

UConn offers undergraduate classes at all six campuses and graduate classes at selected locations. A broad selection of undergraduate and graduate classes is offered online as well, available to students all over the globe.

Apart from the traditional academic year schedule, we offer credit classes through our Weekend Classes, Winter Intersession, May Term and Summer Session programs. Classes are available to all students, degree and non-degree.

  • Our Non-Degree Study program enables individuals to enroll in UConn undergraduate and graduate classes and earn academic credit without being formally admitted to a degree program. Non-Degree study is also a convenient way for students from other colleges and universities to take classes at UConn and then transfer the credits to their own institution.

  • Summer Sessions, May Term and Winter Intersession offer all students (degree and non-degree) an opportunity to choose classes that meet their academic needs with classes available at all six UConn campuses, at special locations statewide and online.

Summer Sessions includes two six-week sessions, and two three-week intensive sessions. Winter Intersession and May Term offer three-week intensive sessions.

  • Weekend classes are scheduled every weekend or every other weekend. Students can enroll in multiple classes from three different class schedules. Evening classes are also available at all UConn campuses.

  • Online Courses and Programs provide convenient and accessible education to adult learners across the United States and throughout the world.
